Davao is the most urbanized city in Mindanao and off course part of being an urban center is to have big malls for shopping. In Davao City, there are 5 big malls located strategically everywhere in the city. The Ayala and Robinsons are planning to put up their malls in Davao too so it means more malls are expected to erect in the metro by next year onward.
This is the first of the series of articles where I’m going to feature Davao City shopping malls. First stop is SM City Davao (featuring its exterior).
This is the backside portion of SM City Davao’s wide parking area and near to it is the vacant lot which is the future site of the mall’s ICT center.
This is the left wing parking area of SM City Davao. The mall is located at Ecoland and a few meters from the mall are Times Beach resort, the future site of SM ICT Center and Eco4000 Condominium which is presently underconstruction.
Security check…… a security guard is roaming around the mall making sure everyone is safe. You can see people outside the mall waiting for it to open. SM City mall is so clean and pretty in this picture and when you’re actually there it really is.

They bought the Lanang Country Club as the site and they are about to start construction this year…. pero medyo matagal tagal pa siguro ma complete ang project, i think it would take 2 years so mga 2010 pa ma realized and pangalawang SM sa Davao.

One thing I don’t like about SM is there CINEMAS…The screen,audio, and chairs are substandards. The same situation to SM Manila, and SM City South (Parañaque). Hopefully they could do something to it…Podium and Ayala Malls is good… and I’ve heard Ayala will open very soon in Davao got excited and I’m looking forward to visit the mall when I come bak next year 2010.
