King Cobra alias “banakon”
In the provinces of Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley, it is believed that under the thick cover of forested land lives significant number of king cobras locally known as “banakon”. There are many reports of snake bites in the sorrounding area where victims range from a small child to an elderly farmer. Eyewitnesses reported that the snake could reach the length of 18 to 20 feet long and is highly venomous (same with the king cobras abundantly found in India). People thought about the snakes as the guardian of the forest and whenever someone enters their turf they will become aggresive and will surely happy to chase and inject those death syrup in someone’s body to die.Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental is a 2 to3 hour drive east from Davao City. Today, still there is no documented sightings of that feared snake not even a captured one for us to see. Biologist where presently exploring the forest hoping to find one so that they can find a way to protect the animal from extinction and for the people to not get in the snakes path.
This video shows a giant king cobra in India being the center of discussion by some brave, intelligent but crazy guy who’s doing a documentary. This is kinda intense video you better watch closely to that big 18 ft. snake I’d been cringing watching this clip. Have fun!

alam mo sir, ang cobra ay pinakamakamandag na ahas sa lahat at walang sino mang makakalapit na tao pero yong isang reporter ay nakaya nyang lapitan ang ahas na iyon.Sa pag kakaalam ko sir dito sa ating bansa maraming nakatirang ahas at marami ring napapabalita na may kinagat ng ahas may ibat-ibang klase ng ahas pero itong cobra ang mas makamandag sa lahat.

nice and fair ako feling magwatch sa video,it my firstime na makita ang ganun kalaki na cobra..kung titingnan mo lng ang lagi at maliksi ang galaw ay npaka dli kado tlaga,,pero ang tao na nsa video ay mabilis dn kumilos.sa india ang mga tao don ay ginagawa din nlang laroan ang cobra,kahit matanda at bata.ginagawa nlang pacontest kung paano pag amo ng cobra.

Sa unang pagkakataon ay talaga nga namang naghirap ang siyentipiko na maghanap ng ahas na pag-aaralan, ang king cobra. Sa pagkakataon na nakatagpo na sya ng Cobra ay kaagad na niya itong sinunggaban sa maingat na pamamaraan. Napakadilikado ng pong talagang i-handle ang uring ahas na iyon dahil ito ay sadyang matalino gaya ng aking inaakala. Wow the video is so great because the king cobra or the banakon is one of the most biggest snake. I think the King Cobra is not the most biggest snake at all. The scientist is amazing because he tame the snake, the king cobra is not easy to tame because that is so dangerous. Wow it said that the King Cobra is intellegent it’s so amazing snake.
Wow its so amazing the scientist trying to tame the snake and capture. The scientist is so brave and strong because of what he did to the snake. If i where there i will be killed and eated my whole body you know because i am small but terrible but still i will not let the cobra kill me. The Banakon is intellegent wow that was amazing.
Its so dangerous to catch some snake especially the king cobra because that is so intellegent snake among sa other snake. As far as i know the king cobra or(banakon) is one of the most dangerous snake in the world and i think if you touch that “errrty” snake it will really bite you because snake has an instinct that is so very sensitive and there are times that they really attack . in almost 3years of seeking an information about the crypted snake or BANAKON.
i finally found proved that the Banakon is found only here in the phillippines & a very very in dangered species.
The Bnakon is the largest venomous snake i’ve ever saw in my entire life.
i wrote this thread just wanting some people to help me find this snake and
set a sanctuary place for them to live together because this snake is unique only in the phillippines.
people here are having extreme fear of this snake & enjoy killing of it because this is more dangerous than King cobra,vipers & a black mamba.
The Banakon snake is a territorial snake. When there place is entered it will not stop chasing you & give a strike just enough to kill a man in a second.
This snake is unbelievable & just turn to a myth because this snake is amazingly intelligent. Some victims or an eye witnesses as many as 20% of people live in our villages here in mindanao said that almost all victims are experienced hearing rouster crows after thier encounter. the snake mimic’s a crows of a rouster. but even we try to consider that an encountering of Banakon & hearing a crowing snake is unbelievable because we almost all know that the snake only detects a vibration in soroundings & it does’nt have an ears to hear the rousters crows to mimic it. Peoples that encounters a crowing snake or BANAKON are very strong enough to stand thier beliefs that they surely hear the crows of a banakon.
Some Banakon experts here said that if thev addults banakon saw the killing of one of its kind. it will take them into a grudge enough the BANAKON to follow in the mans house & kill the man to avenge thier killed kind or a family member..(unbelievable story)

its body is wieght like a king cobra but a quiet thin.
black mamba has a diamon head, BANAKON too but BANAKON has his horns like on its diamon head. black mamba is always black w/ white color in his ventral or abdomenal line view.
BANAKON is having thier color sometimes black or even having thier white silvery gray entire the body..black mamba is a 10-15 ft. long & the BANAKON is 15-20 ft. or even longger.
the colored black BANAKON is always having his two little leg near the tail. but thye other one white BANAKON we saw somestimes & sometimes not having a two leg. i can’t notice w/c of this two is male or female of this white Banakon or black.
black mamba rise his head on 2-3feet. & BANAKON also has extreme strength to rise his head by 5 feet or even higher. he has an extreme speed that enough to chase people & strike it evn if they are in a running situation. it has plenty of venum to kill a human being in only a 40 seconds to only one minute i don’t even hear the victims that where ever survive for a long after they got bitten…
TO see is to believe but i saw 1 of it & chase me twice so i believed! outside country believe that this is just a romours & judges us that filipino is undereducated & supersticious believers. I’ve been doing volunteer work here in Com Val province for 3 months now. A kid died few weeks ago because of the claimed “banakon”‘s bite. I’m a nurse at the local hospital here and witnesses claimed that this snake had 2 feet like that of a chicken’s? i tried searching on google, and the descriptions seem to match the samoan’s “crowing snake”, not the king cobra. anyways, i havent really seen one but a lot of natives here can attest that weird snake does exist.

Banakon and King Cobra are definitely two different snakes.I’ve been chase by one during my revolutionary days and seen one up close about 14 to 18 ft in length killed by a group of lumads while swallowing a smaller brown cobra . It’s called Hamimilay in some parts of Bukidnon. The one i saw was black,w/ a diamond shape head with horns and yes it mimic the sound of a rooster.
To Lowell: The best time to encounter one is during summer just go to the remote Upper Pulangui Barangays of Malaybalay,Bukidnon near its boundary with Agusan.

yes i agree with slitheren. King Cobra and Banakon is two different snake. Banakon is known to have a two legs like a lizard, but a lizard got 4 legs, Banakon got 2 legs. Banakon is highly aggressive than cobra because banakon will chase for about half a kilometer just to keep you away from their territory. king cobra will not chase that far.
