This is interesting that it gets me excited. Ekran BHD, a company from Malaysia, is planning to reopen its hotel Samal Casino Resort in IGACOS. If I remember, this hotel which is located in an area of 250 hectares opened last 1997 during the heydays of BIMP-EAGA however it was forced to close in 2000 due to the Asian Financial Crisis during that time. Back then it had 300 rooms and a ballroom that accommodates 3000 people.

Ekran BHD is investing US$20 million for the planned reopening. The hotel will also have a golf club and set to expand to a whooping 1400 rooms. Meanwhile, negotiations are set in the opening of a Kota Kinabalu-Davao direct flight, in partnership with Malaysian Airlines, to coincide with the reopening of the resort.
